Iron Ear for iOS
Privacy Policy
Effective
The short version
Iron Ear collects no data. None. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising and no third-party SDKs, and the app makes no network requests of any kind. Your scores, streaks and settings are stored on your device and never leave it.
Who this covers
This policy applies to Iron Ear, the iOS app published by Rooftop Creative (“we”, “us”), and to this website at iron-ear.com.
Information we collect
We collect nothing. Iron Ear does not ask you for a name, an email address, a phone number or any other personal detail, and it has no way to collect one silently either. There is no sign-up, no login and no user profile, because the app has no server behind it.
Specifically, Iron Ear contains:
- no analytics or telemetry of any kind;
- no advertising, ad networks or ad identifiers;
- no crash-reporting or attribution SDKs;
- no third-party software development kits at all;
- no tracking across apps, websites or devices;
- no networking code — the app never opens a connection.
Because nothing is collected, there is nothing for us to sell, share, rent, disclose or lose in a breach.
What is stored on your device
Iron Ear saves a small amount of information locally so the app remembers where you left off: your quiz scores and streaks, per-trainer statistics, and your preferences such as instrument tuning, key, scale, difficulty, tempo, volume, flats notation and haptics.
This data is written to your iPhone’s own app storage. It is not transmitted anywhere, it is not visible to us, and it is not shared with any other app. You can clear your statistics at any time from Settings inside the app, and deleting Iron Ear removes all of it permanently — we hold no copy to restore from.
Microphone and other permissions
Iron Ear uses the microphone for exactly one thing: the tuner. iOS will ask for microphone access the first time you open the tuner, and only then. The audio is analysed on your device in real time to detect pitch — it exists for the fraction of a second it takes to read a frequency, and it is never recorded, stored or transmitted. If you decline, everything except the tuner works normally. Iron Ear requests no other permissions: no camera, contacts, photos, location or health data.
Purchases
Iron Ear is a one-time paid app with no subscriptions and no in-app purchases. Your purchase is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or handle your name, payment card, billing address or Apple Account details. Apple’s handling of that transaction is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy, not by this one.
Children’s privacy
Iron Ear is safe for all ages in the most straightforward way possible: we collect no personal information from anyone, children included. The app has no accounts, no chat, no user-generated content, no external links out to the web and no advertising. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 — or from anyone else — because the app collects no data at all.
This website
iron-ear.com is a set of static pages. It uses no cookies, no analytics, no tracking pixels and no embedded third-party content; every font, style sheet and image is served from this domain. Our web host may keep standard server access logs for security and reliability, which is ordinary infrastructure operation and not something we use to profile visitors.
Your rights
Privacy laws such as the GDPR, the CCPA and Canada’s PIPEDA give you rights to access, correct, export or delete the personal data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to look up or erase. The data on your device is already entirely under your control: view it in the app, reset it in Settings, or delete the app to remove it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Material changes — for example a future feature that requires a permission — will be described here before that feature is released.
